3/7/2026 -With my hosting plan coming up for renewal, I recently gave some thought to self-hosting this site on either AlpineLinux or FreeBSD through Vultr's VPS service. The two main considerations that were pushing me in this direction were price (a year with my current hosting provider costs approximately twice as much as a sufficiently-sized offering from Vultr) and the full control I would have with the OS and darkhttpd.
As self-hosting requires some investment in time, I have opted to keep my current provider but downgrade my plan. Since this is a very small personal page, my current hosting plan was a bit overkill.
